ATMP report - How can good implementation be ensured?
We are proud to publish our report on Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMP) which we hope will contribute to a better understanding of ATMP; its development, potential, obstacles and future!
ATMPs have the potential to treat diseases that cannot be treated today, generating value by enabling more people to survive, live longer and/or enjoy better health. ATMPs can also transform a long-term treatment into a one-time treatment with lasting effects, which can reduce healthcare costs in the long run. ATMPs are being developed at a rapid pace globally and are on the verge of an international breakthrough in medical research.
Sweden wants to be a pioneer in the implementation of precision medicine and ATMP in health care, but for this to be possible, action is needed to address important prerequisites and barriers. This report proposes three actions that are considered a priority to overcome barriers and address conditions for more effective implementation of ATMP!
Sirona has interviewed representatives from industry, academia, hospitals, authorities, regions, industry associations and patient organizations to capture different angles and create a holistic perspective on ATMP. By mapping the many parties involved in ATMP in Sweden, Sirona can contribute with an external and impartial perspective on the area and within proposed measures for good development and patient benefit. The report has no external funder or commissioner.
