Background information

A leading pharmaceutical company wanted to deepen its knowledge of patient journeys for two different patient groups with a particular condition and treatment. The pharmaceutical company's objective was to gain a better understanding of the process in different areas of care and for specific types of treatments.

Challenge

Sirona was commissioned to map and analyze patient journeys in a specific healthcare region, with the aim of finding out what patient journeys look like before, during and after diagnosis and treatment for the patient groups.

Implementation

Sirona used both quantitative and qualitative analysis to answer the pharmaceutical company's questions. The analyses were based on interviews with healthcare professionals from different care units and forms of care, experts and representatives from a patient association in the field. In addition to the interviews, document analysis of guidelines and treatment programs was also carried out to map patient journeys linked to the issues.

Outcome

The results were delivered in a final report to the pharmaceutical company. Sirona mapped patient journeys for both patient groups, showing how patients move between different parts of the healthcare system, how they interact and what the treatment flow looks like in different parts of the healthcare system. Sirona also provided recommendations on how the pharmaceutical company should approach the patient groups. The report was very well received by the pharmaceutical company, which stated that it was very satisfied with the cooperation with Sirona.
