Last year, Sirona was commissioned by Vårdföretagarna to analyze the costs incurred by public healthcare providers and the reimbursements made by private healthcare providers for specific procedures in specialist care. The procedures analyzed were hip and knee replacement surgeries, cataract surgeries and prolapse surgeries.

The analysis has received considerable media attention and was also used as a reference in the proposal for one-off government measures to shorten healthcare queues, which the government has now decided to proceed with. We note that three of the procedures included in the analysis: hip replacement surgery, cataract surgery and prolapse surgery, are now being specifically targeted by the government.

Evidence-based analysis is crucial to understanding and planning the use of resources in healthcare, and we continue our work to help inform decisions.

Below you can read the analysis carried out by Sirona and the proposal presented to the government.
