Today, May 12th, is International Nurses Day - something that we at Sirona naturally want to draw attention to. Nurses are the largest professional group in global healthcare and are a professional group whose knowledge and skills are crucial for good and safe care.

To mark the occasion, we asked one of our consultants, Therese Severed, with a background in nursing, how she would like to mark International Nurses Day and how she uses her experience as a nurse in her daily role as a consultant at Sirona:

"I would like to mark International Nurses Day by paying tribute to all the nurses who do a tremendous job every day in the different areas of healthcare. Working as a nurse is both exciting and rewarding, but it also carries a lot of responsibility and can be very heavy at times.

Having worked as a nurse, I always bring that perspective to my work as a consultant. It allows me to highlight the important role of nursing in healthcare and brings several benefits. A major advantage is the understanding of what clinical work means in practice and what conditions are required for its success. I also experience an advantage in communicating with clinical staff in that we have a common platform to start from, which facilitates mutual understanding.

I left clinical nursing with the goal of working for more effective, preventive and person-centered care and at Sirona I get to do just that!"
